Seidr is a Norse magical and shamanistic tradition from the Viking Age, believed to have been a form of magic relating to both the telling and shaping of the future. Prophecy, healing, cursing and war related practices both served and challenged the Viking world. Seidr was practiced by Vølvas: female shamans and seers in Norse religion who are a recurring motif in Norse mythology.
