St. Urho, armed with his rake, met the massive swath of invading grasshoppers threatening the grape harvest. He shouted, “Heinasirkka, heinasirkka, mene taalta hiiteen!” Translated, it means get the heck out of Finland! The grasshoppers, quaking with uncontrollable fear, knew that they could not overpower the great and brave St. Urho. Once again, the world wine connoisseurs breathed a sigh of relief knowing that the vineyards of the land of the Finns, would once again be safe!

Come celebrate this courageous saint who braved the largest crowd of grasshoppers ever known at Skandia’s St. Urho party, Katrilli will teach some fun dances before the main program begins: Seni, the grape stomping dance; Kaustinen mixer, a heel toe mixer that always creates lots of laughter; Kehruu Valssis, a rather elegant waltz; and if there is enough time, Yrjon Polkka, guaranteed to get your heart rate up.

Folk Voice Band will provide the live music for this fun evening.
