Since early days, the Nordic presence in the Seattle area has been strong, with a history of immigration from Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, and Iceland. Hundreds of ethnic organizations and clubs have supported the extended community, with many of them still in existence today.

The Nordic Council of Greater Seattle was established in 2017 through an initiative of a core group of Nordic community leaders from the Seattle area. The group’s mission is to facilitate communication and cooperation between Nordic organizations in the Puget Sound region.

In view of the Northwest’s uniquely rich Nordic culture and with the goal for preserving and nurturing our heritage into the future, the Nordic Council of Greater Seattle seeks to:

  • support and grow local Nordic organizations and resources
  • develop collaboration among organizations
  • make Nordic culture and resources available and accessible for all generations
  • promote the entire Nordic-American community
