Leif Erikson Lodge 2-001, Sons of Norway, cordially invites you and the community to participate in a open house in Leif Erikson Hall, 2245 NW 57th Street, Seattle WA, on Friday, May 17, 2019. This is a day to celebrate Norwegian Constitution Day, Syttende Mai, and also Leif Erikson Lodge’s 116th anniversary. The open house is from 12 Noon to 5PM at our hall. There are celebratory events commemorating this important day throughout Ballard—from entertainment at Bergen Place, to the parade through the heart of Ballard,

What will be available at Leif Erikson Hall?:
Lefse, krumkake, waffles, ice cream, craft and food demonstrations, children’s activities with face painting and more!
Nordic Café by Sound Catering is offering beautiful open-faced sandwiches, delicious hot entrées, coffee, soda, and more

Music and entertainment from Noon to 5PM
Noon-1PM: Folk Voice Band with Birgit and Philip Ages
1PM-1:30 Nick Ericson, torader a two row accordion
1:30-2PM: Rachel Nesvig, hardingfele–a unique traditional folk fiddle from Norway
2PM-2:30: Leikarringen of Leif Erikson Lodge 2-001, folkdances and music from Norway
2:30-3:30PM: Nordic Reflections with Ione and Brenda Bard, accordion duo
3:30-5PM: Winter Family Band playing favorite Scandinavian music!

You will also be able to meet members of many Nordic organizations who you will also see in the parade. They will be sharing information about their group and how you can get involved.

Parking is always a challenge on this day especially near the parade route (the parade route down 24th Ave NW and part of Market will not have any parking later in the day. Any cars parked there may be towed as the parade time gets closer). However, on-street parking away from the main part of Ballard is generally free. Plan on walking or taking the bus or other transport. Public transportation helps reduce your stress levels in getting to Ballard on May 17!
