Morning Program – Swedish Weaving: The Weavers and Their Weaves

Sweden has a rich artistic and cultural weaving heritage. Through photos and samples, Joanne will discuss the types of weaving that Swedish weavers produce. She will share her experiences with Swedish weaving conferences and the craft shops called Hemslojd. Joanne will describe how Swedish weavers learn more about weaving.

Afternoon Program – The Vavstuga and the Swedish Loom

Joanne will talk about the schools where weaving is taught and weaving places, called vavstugor, where weavers in Sweden gather and weave. These places are filled with large floor looms, warping reels and weaving equipment. These looms are designed for function. She will describe how they work and why Swedish weavers prefer them.
