Those cool and crazy Norwegian singers are at it again! The Norwegian Male Chorus of Seattle is pleased to announce our annual codfish dinner and concert. This year‘s party is slated to be held on Sunday, November 10 at the Leif Erikson Lodge in Ballard 2245 NW. 57th St. Social hour begins at 5 PM with a no host bar with dinner at 6 PM and a performance by the chorus after dessert around 7 PM. Bob Antone has collected over 500 logging and railroad songs and stories from the Pacific Northwest. Tinkham Road, complete with a musical saw, includes well-known upright bassist Ryan Donnelly and guitarist/singer/songwriter Chase Rabideau. The group will perform lively original music as well songs by local Scandinavian artists Ivar Haglund and Stan Boreson. Join Seattle's wonderful Nordic heritage choirs, representing Finland, Norway, and Sweden as we sing our most beautiful Christmas music at the acoustically lovely Phinney Ridge Lutheran Church.  A special guest choir representing the Baltic countries, Magi Ensemble, will be joining us.  Reception to follow. This event is free, however, a suggested donation of $15/adult would be gladly accepted.

Enter the percussive and ethereal sounds of Iceland with the Seattle-based Pacific Rims Percussion Quartet as they evoke the Icelandic northern lights in Aura by Anna Þorvaldsdóttir, the dramatic moss-covered, volcanic, and ice-shaped landscapes in Sindur by Áksell Másson, and more from this extraordinary and rich repertoire. This pan-Scandinavian female fiddle trio (one member each from Denmark, Norway and Sweden) takes you on a musical journey through Scandinavia—from lowlands to mountains, from slow airs to lively polkas, in major and in minor, and everything in between. Their concert at the Club is free, but you can reserve a seat for $10. 5 p.m. The bar will open at 4 p.m., with small plates available for purchase.
